Main Title Video for event by TeamLab: Digitized Kairakuen Garden

Bumper Video

This is a project assignment to create a teaser video for an event. I chose a Japan event by TeamLab: Digitized Kairakuen Garden. Digitized Kairakuen Garden is a solo exhibition held from 1 March to 31 March 2021. It is located at Mito, Ibaraki, Japan. This garden was created at the end of Edo Period (1842), a garden designated to be a Special Place of Scenic Beauty, intended for enjoyment of public. The name Kairakuen has a meaning of “park to be enjoyed together”. Kairakuen Garden is home to 3,000 plum trees of around 100 varieties, and it is well known for its plum blossoms whereby it is open for viewing during its season.

This event is teamLab’s art project to explore how nature can become art. The concept of the project is that non-material digital technology can turn nature into art without harming it. The garden is transformed, where the trees are transformed into an interactive art space that changes due to the presence of people.

Throughout this entire project, I faced difficulty with lack of equipment as it was during the pandemic. As this assignment requires the mixture of digital video composed and edited to become a video, I did not have a proper phone to capture desireable scene quality. The video filmed in the creation of this video was heavily and thoroughly edited to hide the poor quality of my phone video capture. Moreover, my laptop's processor could not keep up with advance editing on After Effects.

Nevertheless, I sustained my effort and got the result I wanted despite compromising so much.
